If there is anything I love in this world, it’s someone who is completely and enthusiastically authentic in the bedroom.  Why?  Because with all of the sexual assumptions that are placed on us via our upbringings, our peers, and pop culture, it’s not always easy to fully claim our kinky side and be confident with our own sexual desires, unapologetically.  But listen, we are all human beings here and none of us are exactly the same.  Life would be super boring if we were!  So today, I think we should honor our unique sex preferences.  Let’s have a fetish fiesta!

You’d be surprised at how many couples who have been together for 20+ years still do not share their sexual desires openly with each other because it would just be uncomfortable.  And listen, I get it - some fetishes aren’t as simple as just saying, “I like nurse costumes.”  It can be way more complex than that.  

So, let’s start from scratch with the very definition of a fetish.  A fetish is a form of sexual desire in which gratification is linked to a particular object, item of clothing, part of the body, etc. Here are three of my very favorite sexual fetishes.

Voyeurs: Let’s ease our way into this with one of the most common fetishes in existence.  In fact, it’s so common that the majority of humans have at least a small element of fascination with it.  Voyeurs are people who want to watch others get naked and have sex. Come to think of it, an entire industry (the porn industry) was built on this fetish and people’s desires to watch nudity and sex happen.  So for all of you out there who didn’t think you had any fetishes to claim, does this one change your mind?  If not, perhaps the next one is for you.

Foot Fetish: Several years back, I took a pole dancing class in Las Vegas for a bachelorette party.  Naturally, the course was taught by a very talented, ex-Vegas stripper. I, on the other hand, lacked the upper body strength to do any of it -  but I digress.  I remember asking the instructor what her “most memorable” experience as a Vegas stripper was.  She said a “local” would come in once a week and pay her thousands (yes thousands!) of dollars to…wait for it...suck her toes.  Now, if any of you reading this are immediately judging that person, don’t you f-ing dare!  We are all entitled to our fetishes, toe sucking and all!

Furry People: This fetish is super fun - not to mention it’s equally cute and cuddly!  Believe it or not, there is a significant population of “furries” out there who enjoy dressing up in various animal costumes, many of which have strategically-placed holes (wink wink), while having sex.  In fact, many people with furry fetishes also masturbate with stuffed animals.  So, what do I have to say about it?  It’s simple.  Happy (almost) International Fetish Day to all of your furries out there!!  

Of course there are many, many more fetishes I could name.  BDSM, latex, nurses, cops, cross-dressing, red hair, piercings, tattoos, Comicon - seriously, the list is f-ing infinite.  And if you actually take the time to immerse yourself in other sex cultures, like Japanese sex culture, for instance, you’ll find that fetishes are not always so hidden.   In fact, they are very much highlighted in everyday life in Japan from popular fetish game shows on TV to tentacle erotica bars.  Food fetishes are quite popular in Japan, as well, with many restaurants presenting food on a nude female body.  It’s just that in most cultures, we tend to stow away our fetishes and avoid discussing them, even with our husbands, wives, boyfriends and girlfriends.  But not today, my friends!  Can you please promise me you’ll celebrate your fetishes in your own festive way?   Pretty please with sugar on top!   ;)
