I walked into the sex toy shop in my neighborhood the other day and thought, “Damn! There are soooo many products in here!” Dildos, vibrators, butt plugs, handcuffs, sex games — you name it, it was in that shop! It’s no wonder I was there for almost two whole hours, picking up every single product in the shop and daydreaming about what it might feel like to use. Come on, Miranda, make up your damn mind! And then I freakin’ left the store empty-handed, because I wanted to do more online research, LOL. But in all honesty, I can see why choosing a sex toy can be overwhelming for some people, including myself. How do you find an answer to the big question, “What’s the best sex toy for me?”

With V-Day coming up, I thought I’d share some tips on what to look for in a sex toy. Whether it’s for a hot solo masturbation sesh, a steamy hookup with bae or a gift for a friend, here are some things to think about before you click that purchase button.

The first rule of shopping for your best sex toy is to have fun! So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Here we go:

1. Figure out how you’ll be using it.

Before you get down and dirty with choosing size, color, etc., think about how you want to use your new toy. Those nights alone in bed? With your significant other? As a gift? Want to travel with it? It might seem weird but think about the end game first.

2. Determine what you like.

There are so many different kinds of sex toys out there, so before you add anything to your cart, make sure you know what you like, and what you want out of a sex toy. Oh, and I always look for something waterproof. You never know when you might be inspired to head into the shower!

5. Do your research.

After you’ve gone through the steps above, it can’t hurt to do some good ol’ fashioned research on the Web. Check out the product reviews, prices and pictures. Some websites even have explanation videos if you’re still not sold on what you want.
