The Perks of Being Single on Valentine's Day

I’ve celebrated a lot of Valentine’s Days in my years, some as a single gal and some as a “taken” gal, and I find it to be….WAY overrated. Expectations are always so high on the “day of love” when you’re in a relationship and the price of that fancy steak dinner is even higher! The pressure to have a perfect, romantic, sexy evening is off the charts - and it’s a bunch of bullshit if you ask me.

A few years back, I was out with this mega hot guy on Valentine’s Day, who was kinda a snoozefest, who I’d been dating for a few months. After the standard Italian restaurant dinner and a shared bottle of wine, I was looking forward to ending the night with some mind-blowing sex and was hungering for an intense orgasm.  In hindsight, I was totally trying to fabricate “romance,” but whatevs.  Long story short, the night did not go as planned, and he didn’t even come back to my apartment! But don’t worry, I still got what I wanted at the end of the night — a big O.  (Real talk though, who needs a man when there are incredibly stimulating and efficient sex toys to get the job done?!)

So, for all you single ladies (or maybe even those who are taken and already anticipating the holiday to “flop”), I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Valentine’s Day can be the F-ING BEST, if you think about it differently and stop putting pressure on someone else to save the day. So, for all of you lovely ladies riding solo this Valentine’s Day or feeling a bit down about the whole holiday, let me fill you in on some of the best perks.

Galentine’s Day

Let’s get real for a sec, Galentine’s Day is wayyyyyy better than Valentine’s Day. What’s better than getting all your friends together and spreading the love? That is what this day is all about, right? It’s easy to feel lonely in mid-February when you see everyone else all cuddled up and planning romantic dates. Don’t let that kill your vibe! Round up alllllllll your pals and have a night. Do a gift exchange, go out and get drinks, sit around the couch and and have some good laughs. At the end of the day, it’s all about friends - and they don’t come with the same type of pressure as a romantic relationship.  Plus, they are better gossipers. ;)

Celebrate you

If you’re not in the mood to socialize, take the day and celebrate you! A full day or night of self-care is something we all need every once in a while. Speaking of which, I could sure use a long massage right about now... Anyway, do something nice and treat yo-self to a spa day, or go to the store and splurge on an expensive pair of silk sheets. (Believe me, they’re a game changer!) Or, crack open that expensive bottle of wine that you’ve been saving for a special occasion. A day all about YOU is a special occasion.  Whatever you do, don’t get caught up in the fact that it’s February 14th.  It’s just another freakin’ day in the year - and it doesn’t own your emotions!

You get to do whatever the F*** you want!

Honestly, I think this is hands down the best part about being single on Valentine’s Day. While people are sitting at expensive restaurants trying to be impress someone (and often feeling let down), you can do whatever the heck you want! No pressure, no expectations. And if you’re like me and want to be pleasured at the end of the night, the only person you have to rely on for that is yourself!  I mean, God/the universe/whatever you believe in created fingers for a reason, right? Or better yet, CalExotics created California Dreaming - my personal go-to.  ;)
